In order to increase its network of providers in the provinces, Insular Health Care (IHC) Assistant Vice-President and Medical Director Dr. Art C. Libao accredited doctors, hospitals, and clinic-laboratories in Kalilbo and Boracay last June 20-22, 2016.
His first stop was the Saint Gabriel Medical Center (SGMC). Dr. Libao met with SGMC owner and Medical Director Dr. Jacinta Legaspi and three other high ranking officers of the hospital to finalize the working arrangement between the two parties. After a thorough discussion of the policies and availment procedures, Dr. Libao was able to convince the hospital officers that the Service Agreement (SA) was mutually beneficial. Dr. Libao together with Dr. Legaspi then identified and formed a team of 24 specialists ready and willing to service the IHC members.
Next stop was the Center for Genuine Medical Services & Facilities (CGMSF), a clinical laboratory just in front of the provincial hospital. After discussing in detail the provisions of the SA, Dr. Libao finally got the approval of Clinic Manager Glenn Nagtalon. Effective immediately, CGMSF is ready to accept IHC patients.
Last stop in Kalibo was the Medical Missions Group (MMG) Aklan Specialty Clinic. During the meeting some revisions in the provisions of the SA were identified. Assuring Clinic Manager Luchi Arcenio that such amendments were minor and that such would not significantly affect the SA, Dr. Libao got the commitment of Ms. Arcenio that she will endorse the approval of the SA in the next Board meeting scheduled for July 2016.
After spending the night in Kalibo, Dr. Libao took a two hour bus ride to Boracay. There he met with Operations Manager Dan Pomarin of The Island Clinic Boracay. The clinic is strategically located just a few meters away from the shoreline of Station 1. Much of the discussion centered on availment procedures.
Dr. Libao proceeded to meet separately the staff of the 2 branches of Metropolitan Doctors Medical Clinic (MDMC) in stations 1 & 2. They were very happy to know that IHC took the effort in orienting them with the current policies of the company and the proper availment procedures. He also met with Dr. Ma. Cristina Teotico, MDMC owner to further cement the ties between the two parties.
It was raining most of the time in Boracay. But this did not prevent our Medical Director from enjoying the waters of Boracay. A quick 45 minute swim prior to departure for Manila was more than enough to invigorate him.
Together with Jinky Lanuza, Providers’ Relation Supervisor, they remain steadfast in their goal to go out of Metro Manila to identify providers who will service the medical needs of IHC. After all, “Kalingang Insular Health Care” is not just a tagline, it is a commitment!
