Insular Health Care Holds 2nd Outreach Program
By Jorge Allan S. Tolentino
April 18, 2015 was another special day for Insular Health Care as the company, in partnership with Insular Life, held its 2nd outreach program at the Gawad Kalinga Tambayani Center in Parañaque City.
In line with the company’s thrust to promote social awareness among its officers and employees, volunteer employees led by the Administrative Operations group took care of fifty-eight (58) children in the half-day event. They served as “Ates” and “Kuyas” to the children throughout the activities.
The program began with a prayer to thank God for the opportunity to be together and to ask for guidance for the smooth flow of activities. The children were taught the virtue of respect, which was the theme of the outreach program. The participants listened attentively as topics like how to show respect, to whom should kids show respect, among others, were discussed.
In the next activity, the kids were taught to make simple kites with the colorful papers and other materials that were given to them. The kids responded happily as they learned a new skill, not to mention having a new toy to play with.
For entertainment, the kids were led to sing common inspirational and worship songs. The last activity was a connect-the-dots and coloring game, which everybody really enjoyed. Kids with the best-colored connect-the-dots drawings were given prizes.
The event ended by treating the kids with snacks. All the children were given tumblers as souvenirs.
The volunteers went home tired, but it didn’t matter to them. They knew that they have made the children happy even for just a while. Everyone went back to their homes with an experience they will never forget.
