When most of us were enjoying their day off from work, fifteen (15) Insular Health Care officers, dependents, and staff joined their Insular Life counterparts in re-packing 822 hygiene kits for the evacuees of super typhoon Yolanda last November 30, 2013 . Each kit contained a face towel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and rubbing alcohol.
Aside from the hygiene kits, 900 packed meals were also distributed to the evacuees who were temporarily housed in Villamor Air Base (VAB) . All the donations were turned over to the DSWD officer assigned in VAB.
The joint relief effort was facilitated by Ana R. Soriano, Insular Life Senior Assistant Vice President for Public Relations and Dr. Art C. Libao, AVP and Medical Director of Insular Health Care. Both companies decided to forgo their Christmas party celebrations and instead, channel their funds in helping provide for the needs of the typhoon victims.
Surely, it took Yolanda, not St. Nicholas, to make people realize the true meaning of Christmas!
